Rating Rules

By using this site you agree to rate and comment ONLY on tutors and tutoring services, the staff, or anyone you have contact with from the service. You may rate each tutor or tutoring service only once. Keep your comments appropriate. Do not state something as a fact if it is your opinion. For example, stating "Mr. Smith doesn't have a degree" will be removed. Please rate your tutors or tutoring service based on your opinion of their ability to TUTOR or their ability to offer you a tutoring service. Please try to provide us with an insight into what was your experience.

We will delete words that:

are vulgar or profane
are sexual in nature - including 'Sexy' or 'Hot'
have to do with personal appearance (pretty, ugly, poor hygiene, short, fat, bald, etc.)
have to do with physical disabilities (stutters, limps, wears a hearing aid, etc.)
are name-calling in nature (Jerk, Dork, Nerd, etc.)
refer to mental/alcohol/drug use
refer to problems with the law
refer to race, religion, ethnic background, sexual orientation, age
include names or initials of other students or the rater or any email addresses
refer to the tutor's personal life including family members (Dog is mangy, Don't like her son, Wife is pretty, How did he afford that car? etc.)
contain advertising (Get me as a tutor, call...; Vote for me; get your textbooks today!)
are not in English (unless it is the language of the area)

All comments that threaten a tutor, service, student, administrators, or anyone, or property, or any statement that the rater intends to harm himself/herself will be turned over to the proper authorities with the IP address.

Five Rating Categories for Tutors

Professionalism: did the tutor act or dress or behave in an appropriate manner for the sessions
Empathy: did the tutor care about your success, did the tutor have a supportive attitude, positive demeanor
Ability: was the tutor understandable, could the tutor explain things well and break things into simple concepts
Knowledge: did the tutor know the material well
Punctuality: did the tutor show up on time or within a reasonable amount of time, did the tutor call if late
Satisfaction: how did you or your student do, were you happy with the results, would you recommmend this service

Five Rating Categories for Tutoring Services

Professionalism: staff or owner was courteous, friendly, and cooperative
Placement: the right tutor for the right job, short turn around time, did the service let you switch tutors
Website: easty to understand, clean, organized, effective
Policy: terms and procedures are explained well, there were no suprises
Quality: tutor quality or the quality of the service's programs, supplementary materials, assessments
Satisfaction: how did you or your student do, were you happy with the results, would you recommmend this service

All ratings are on a scale of 1 - 5: 1 means Never and 5 means Always.

Responses Rules

When posting a response you need to follow the same rules and guidelines mentioned above for ratings. The rule regarding name-calling in this case also applies to the person who left the rating you are responding to.

Tutors: We have created a system that enables you to register a special teacher account and post responses to ratings your students left for you. To get started, head over to the join page (coming soon).

Goals

We intended this service to be a valuable resource for both students and parents. Please search your area for tutors or add one of your own. We've tried to make this site as easy to use as possible. You only need to login if you want to make a rating, otherwise you can stay anonymous. All information is held in strict confidence.
